George Washington Bridge
The iconic George Washington Bridge (the busiest motor vehicle bridge in the world carrying over 103 million vehicles per year) connecting New York and New Jersey is a must-do activity for any cyclist visiting New York City. The views of New York from the bridge are unmatched and the cycling path is comfortable (despite being a mixed-use bike/pedestrian path) and relatively uncrowded especially on early mornings. The bridge is subject to high winds, so be prepared for that. Once reaching New Jersey, there are excellent options to extend your ride up River Road or up 9W even as far as Bear Mountain.
Getting there: Ride north up the Westside Highway to the Bridge. Signs provide directions to the Bridge pathway access.
